Most property owners use a real estate agent to sell their property. Most property buyers get an inspection report to check out the property they want to buy.

But none of them really want to, or need to, use these services. All they really want or need is to sell or buy a property.

Dealing with real estate agents and property inspectors is just part of the process they have to go through to get what they need.

So what we do when we provide our service to our customer isn’t very important. But how we make the customer feel is.

Buying or selling property is an emotional process. It makes people stressed, nervous, anxious, excited, relieved, worried and agitated.

If we take advantage of those emotions in a way that makes it harder for them achieve their outcome or aggravates their emotional response, we’ve failed them. If we do things that make them less stressed, more relaxed, more confident, less worried, more relieved, then we’ve made it easier for the buyer or seller to achieve what they are after.

 

 

Sadly, almost no-one looks forward to dealing with a real estate agent. Because their reputation is that they are a big pothole on the road to selling or buying a property.

But here’s the opportunity.

If you present your client with a two-lane freeway towards their destination by delivering an open, honest and reassuring process, then not only have you added value but you’ve created a fan who might tell others about you.

Of course, this isn’t the easy path. But it is the better path.

And it’s the only way you can be better. Because all other agents also sell property for a fee.
